| Abstract | This paper reports on a period of consolidation in the NZ electricity industry as it matures from what was a government monopoly to a privatised competitive commercial business. Tightening gas supplies have refocused attention on renewable energy resources and several dry autumns have highlighted the risk of dependence on limited hydro storage. Details of new geothermal energy developments and expansion projects undertaken over the period 2000 to 2004 are provided along with a performance update of existing operational fields. |
