| Abstract | A temporal moment analysis of the Beowawe tracer data is presented. The method has a firm theoretical foundation, and has been applied in numerous field tests. Because the first moment is a time-weighted average of the tracer history, care must be taken to properly extrapolate the data. The output signal also requires deconvolution to remove repeated reinjection of the tracer. If the proper pre- and post-processing of the tracer data is done, the moment analysis yields the total swept pore volume. An extension of the moment analysis gives a graphical representation of the flow geometry. The methods are discussed in detail. The Beowawe tracer data is used in an example of accurate use of temporal moments. |
