Abstract Geothermal reservoir modeling and other subsurface thermal calculations require proper knowledge of the thermal properties of the rocks and fluids present in the reservoir and their dependence on temperature, pressure and fluid saturation.
The difficulties involved in these measurements make it desirable to have a way of predicting such properties and their variations under changing environmental conditions. A correlation method is proposed, which enables estimation of the thermal conductivity of the rock-brine system using data on other physical properties that are easier to determine or are already available. These other properties are: porosity, grain size and size distribution, mineral composition and chemistry of rock and fluid.
This report presents results of thermal conductivity measurements on a variety of Cerro Prieto cores at two temperature levels for brine and air saturation conditions. These values are compared with values of thermal conductivities calculated from the correlation equations.

Para la preparacion de modelos de yacimientos geotermicos y otros caleulos termieos subterraneos se requiere eonocer las propiedades termieas de las rocas y fluidos presentes. y la dependencia de estas propiedades de la temperatura, presion y saturacion de fluidos.
Las dificultades involucradas en la medicion de dichas propiedades hacen deseable contar con una forma de predecirlas en funeion de las condiciones ambientales. Se propone aqui un metodo de eorrelacion que permite la estimacion de la conductividad termiea del sistema sa1muera-roca lltilizando propiedades fisicas de facil determinacion. Dichas propiedades son: porosidad, tamano de grano y distribucion granulometrica, eomposicion minera1ogica, y eomposieion qulmica de los fluidos y roeas.
En este informe se presentan los resultados de las medieiones de conductividad termica a dostemperaturas en diversos nueleos de Cerro Prieto saturados de salmuera o aire. Estos va1ores se comparan con los valores de conductividades termicas ca1culados de las ecuaeiones de corre1acion.
