| Abstract | Approximately 17 kID northwest of the Cerro Prieto volcano lies the geothermal anomaly of Tule Check (Figure 1). It occupies both sides of the Cerro Prieto canal and is about 8 kID northwest of the spot where the canal intersects the MexicaliSan Felipe highway. The Tule Check geothermal anomaly covers about a 2-km2 area which includes the hydrothermal manifestations in the Wisteria and Tule Check irrigation drains, as well as several shallow wells drilled to measure subsurface temperatures. During the summer of 1978, self~potential surveys were run along five lines over the anaomaly. The purpose of this survey was to investigate the behavior of the self-potential method in the Tule Check geothermal anomaly and obtain an evaluation, from a purely qualitative viewpoint, of the possible extension of the anomaly to assist in future exploration of the area. Aproxirradam:mte a 17 Km al noroeste del Volcan de Cerro Prieto, B.C. se encuentra la anonalia geotermica Tule Check, (Vease Fig. 1), localizando se en ambas margenes del canal de Cerro Prieto y separada unos 8 km al noroeste de la interseccion del canal con la carretera Mexicali-San Felipe. La anomalfa geotermica de Tule Check se ha dencminado como el area que comprende las manifestaciones hidrotennales en los drenes Wisteria, Tule Check y en varios pozos someros perforados para conocer la temperatura de fondo en los alrededores de los drenes. La extension de la anomalfa geotermica, es supuestamente, de 2Km2, en la cual, durante el verano de 1978 se levantaron 5 lineas de potencial natural. El objetivo de este trabajo fue investigar el comportamiento del metodo de Potencial Natural en la anomalia geotermica de Tule Check y lograr una evaluacion, desde el punto de vista puramente cualitativo, sobre la posible extension de la anomalia para su posterior exploracion mediante el uso de otras herramientas geofisicas dentro del progra ma de estudio de campo que se tiene en esa zona. |
