| Abstract | In the framework of the exploration and exploitation programme of deep geothermal resources in Italy, since the end of the 1970s over 140 wells deeper than 2,500 m have been drilled in different areas of central Italy (Tuscany and Latium). This activity has made it possible so far to find significant amounts of additional geothermal resources and to expand considerably the areas of interest. It has also allowed to increase the knowledge of the geothermal systems, supplying useful indications for the future programmes of deep exploration. |
