| Abstract | I am currently employed at the Agency of Industrial Science and Technology. In order to carry forward a balanced policy which combines economic growth, assurance of stable energy supply, and preservation of the environment, we at the Agency of Industrial Science and Technology have formulated the New Sunshine Project. We are also implementing a number of technological development projects with the aim of maintaining sustainable growth and solving energy and environmental problems at the same time. As a geologist, I was involved for an extended period of time in research on ore deposits, including black ore deposit, at the Geological Survey of Japan. Therefore, I would like to make this keynote speech in my capacity as the Director-General of the Agency of Industrial Science and Technology and as an earth scientist with research experience in the economic geology. |
