| Abstract | The Pailas Geothermal Field is located on the southern flank of the Rincón de la Vieja volcanic complex, fifteen kilometers north of Liberia, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Based on the data obtained from nine deep wells, surficial geology and temperature gradient wells, a geologic model is presented. This model includes lithologic and mineralogic correlations that show the general geothermal scope of the field. According to the data available we consider that the heat source is located towards the north-northeast and is associated with the Rincón de la Vieja volcanic complex, and declines towards the south-southwest. |
