| Abstract | Geothermal energy is thought to play a decisive role in the future global energy supply. As it comes up with considerable risks and challenges, however, the development of geothermal resources has been slow in many countries in the past. In Germany there has not been a privately funded geothermal power project until the end of 2007. Nevertheless, geothermal power projects present considerable chances to investors which lead to a first privately funded project at the end of 2007 initiating an increasing implementation of geothermal projects. |
