| Abstract | The utilization of geothermal energy has a long tradition in Hungary. When the present economic recession in the country ends in the near future, geothermal energy will surely play an increasing role in the energy supply. The paper shortly reviews the history of geothermal energy and discusses the present state of geothermal energy production and utilization in the country. There is a discrepancy between favorable natural conditions and the poor practice. Present state statistics as well as future plans are detailed. |
