Abstract We present some considerations regarding the use of transport properties (fluid residence times, fluid-rock interface area densities) as estimated from solute tracer tests (inter-well and single-well push-pull geometries), for predicting thermal breakthrough in geothermal well doublet systems. We only refer to single-phase (or liquid-dominated) geothermal reservoirs, to reservoir testing principles proposed by Kocabas and Horne (1987), and to testings by physico-chemically conservative tracers.
