Abstract We have analyzed the major activities carried out for geothermal electricity generation since WGC2005. We are presenting in this paper only the countries where some new addition to the existing capacity has been realized, with exception for the European countries, where we are presenting some updated information even in cases where there has been no new addition. We will refer to our WGC2005 world update papers (Bertani, 2005a, 2005b and 2006) for further details and analytical description of the existing geothermal fields and on the relevant on-going activity. New data has been taken from private communications from IGA members and Affiliated Organizations, and we would like to acknowledge all IGA friends for their valuable help. Other updates have been collected from websites of private and public organizations involved in geothermal development. Plants under construction, which are expected to be commissioned in 2007, are included in the installed capacity. An increase of about 800 MW in the three year term 2005- 2007 has been achieved, following the rough standard linear trend of approximately 200/250 MW per year.
