| Abstract | Several new tracers have been developed over the last decade and a half for the purpose of tracking steam, liquid, and two-phase flow derived from injected fluid. In addition to a tracer's traditional role of identifying injection-production flow paths, its specific properties can be used to elucidate and quantify certain reservoir properties and processes. In this paper I review and discuss recent developments in tracer research, which range from new gas tracers to methods for calculating the effective temperature, surface area, or boiling parameters from tracer test data. |
