Abstract Geochemical monitoring techniques have provided ficant in assessing the effects of field exploitation at Palinpinon since steam was initiated in 1983. Reservoir processes such as reinjection fluid returns, pressure and acidic fluid inflows were recognized through the application of these techniques. Water chemistry data such as chloride, calcium and ratio were used t.o trace the mass breakthrough of reinjection fluids. Thermal caused by tion fluid returns w a s by silica etry and sulfate concentration. The effect of pressure drawdown in the reservoir was clearly illustrated by gas chemistry though the diagram. A model of the field during exploitation w a s defined by the evaluation of stable isotope chemistry data.
