| Abstract | This paper summarizer the results of a study aimed at quantifying the geothermal potential of Costa Rica in terms resources and reserves to depth of 3 km. The main conclusions of the study the country can be into 12 provinces which include 28 with different degrees of interest far geothermal exploration: the extractable energy corresponds to 1.4 OET (oil equivalent tons) in terms reserves, and 2.1 OET in terms of resources: the electric capacity that could be fed at full load for 25 years by the high-temperature 150?C) fraction of this energy ranges between almost MW, utilizing the reserves only) and 2240 MW, (by utilizing all the resources): and the of main interest far the production of energy are Miravalles, de la Vieja, and Tenorio. |
