Abstract This paper describes the estimation of relative permeability and capillary pressure by matching the measurements from a transient experiment to the results of a numerical simulation. The numerical model was constructed in TOUGH2 to simulate results taken from a vertical boiling experiment. Residual water saturation, S,, residual steam saturation, Sgr, pore size distribution index, h, and gas entry pressure, pe, were estimated for a Berea sandstone core by forward and inverse calculation using the Brooks-Corey relative permeability and capillary pressure functions.
