In 1998 well F1 in the center of the Beijing Graben produced 2163 m3/day of hot water with wellhead temperature of 88?C from deep dolomite of 3608 m. This well and many others prove that many districts of Beijing City have underground geothermal water. The hot water zone is about 10 km wide and 70 km long with a total area of about 700km2. Utilization for house heating etc. has large economic and environmental significance. In 1988, 1993 and 1996, three boreholes in the northern hydrothermal alteration area of Yangbajan Geothermal Field in Tibet reached depths of 970, 2007 and 1459 m with measured temperatures of 202, 330 and 251?C, respectively. Utilization of this hightemperature resource for generation of electricity etc. will accelerate economic development and improvement of living standard in Lhasa. |
