| Abstract | A large complex three-dimensional computer model of the Wairakei - Tauhara system is discussed. A previous saturated zone model is extended to include an air/water interface at the groundwater surface. This increases the ability of the model to accurately predict the response of the shallow zone of Wairakei-Tauhara to deep production and in particular to predict changes in surface heat and mass flows. The model results agree well with available natural state data and the response of the system to past production. |
