Abstract Numerical models were developed for the four major power plants in Leyte Geothermal Production Field (LGPF) to be able to maximize the benefits of operating these power plants. These are the Malitbog-South Sambaloran, Upper Mahiao, Mahanagdong A, and Mahanagdong B power plants. The model is accurate and workable, and can be used to minimize costs per megawatt-hour. Through the use of these numerical models, PNOC Energy Development Corporation (PNOC-EDC) can simulate power plant performance in order to evaluate various operating schemes. The steam supply conditions that optimize power generation given changes in the ambient condition can be determined; hence, the power generated per ton of steam supplied can be maximized. This will improve the cost per megawatt, and hence, the competitiveness of geothermal power against other sources of energy.
