Abstract Most of the field tests done on naphthalene sulfonates before 2001 were in geothermal reservoirs with temperature of around 250oC (480oF) only. The Mak-Ban geothermal field is the first large reservoir where naphthalene sulfonates were tested at temperatures exceeding 300oC (5700F), and using multiple tracers and injectors in the test. Lessons learned form previous tracer tests at Tiwi and Mak-Ban and learnings applied from the present state of tracer technology will be discussed. Only the results of the tracer tests in Mak-Ban will be presented because data collection for the 2006 Tiwi tracer tests is on-going.
