Abstract A comprehensive electronic record of all well petrology data and interpretations was developed for the Petrology Section of the Geoscientific Department to store voluminous data of all wells from five geothermal production fields of PNOC-EDC. The ôWell Petrology Moduleö (WPM) was designed for faster and easier data encoding, access, retrieval, and further data interpretation by petrologists and other users. WPM is also capable of producing desired outputs such as queries and reports. Input forms represented in graphic interfaces were created for easy encoding, review, modification and/or update of records if applicable, in the database tables. Once encoded in the database management system, updates, queries, and reports can be generated and displayed on screen, and can be printed directly from the WPM. The outputs can be submitted to, or accessed by, management for critical decision-making during a geothermal well drilling. Other users like geologists, geochemists, chemists, reservoir and drilling engineers may also access these petrologic data and interpretations. Collated data from several wells, generated in the form of reports by WPM, can also be easily retrieved and further interpreted by petrologists for fieldwide resource assessment of a particular geothermal field.
