D r Graeme Lyon of I.N.S. and the author undertook a geochemical and isotopic survey of the Tikitere and Taheke thermal fields in December 1978. For a full report and data, see Sheppard and Lyon The results of prior surveys (Klyen, 1970; and Espanola, indicated that most of the springs and pools were of the acid sulphate type. The lowest lying spring waters contain most chloride. and bubbling pools from Taheke field, a small field to the north of Lake were also sampled. We attempted to sample all the significant features those strongly discharging, hot, at low topographic level ), A total of 43 sites were sampled; 38 for water chemistry, 40 for water isotopes, 3 for steam isotopes, and 9 for gas and isotopes. |
