This paper reports experimlmtal efforts towards measuring accurate steam-water relative permeability functions under steady-state and non-adiabatic conditions. A steady-state experiment was conductedand a set of relative permeability curves for simultaneous flow of steam and water in porous media has been obtained. These relations show thatthe relative permeabilities for both steam and water phases in porous media vary with saturation in a curvilinear fashion. The saturations in this experiment were measured by using a high resolution X-raycomputer tomography (CT) scanner. In addition the pressure gradients were obtained from accurate measurements of liquid-phase pressure over regions with flat saturation profiles. These two aspects constitute a major improvement in the experimental method compared to those used in the past. |
