Abstract A previous workshop summary (Herkelrath and Moench, 1978) described laboratory studies of transient steam flow in a porous medium. The results indicated that the time required for steampressure transients to propagate through the medium was as much as 30 times greater than predicted by standard noncondensable gas-flow theory. breakthrough was caused by adsorption of steam in the porous sample. This "adsorption lag effect " has been incorporated in to the following revised model of steam flow in a porous medium.
