Ormat, the geothermal market leader, has grown substantially in the last 5 years, since the last World Geothermal Congress. The growth has been in markets served and technology, and ultimately in the amount of geothermal power plants it has sold and owns & operates. Since the last WGC we have added almost 50 new power plants, totaling over 1,200 MW – bringing to a total geothermal plants supplied by Ormat to 160 totaling 3000 MW. Of these, 10 plants are Ormat owned, growing our portfolio to almost 1000 MW. The growth in owned power plants was mostly in the US and in our share in the world’s largest geothermal power plant, Sarulla in Indonesia. The plants we sold were largely in the world’s fastest growing geothermal market, Turkey. This growth further established Ormat as the market leader, as Ormat’s share of all new plants since the last World Geothermal Congress is over 50% |
