Abstract Resource estimates carried out at various stages of geothermal development facilitate decision making by project stake holders. Due to a desire to have a systematic methodology in reporting exploration results, resource and reserve estimates the geothermal industry has developed codes aimed at facilitating this process. The Australian and Canadian geothermal reporting codes (2010) that exist currently were developed to promote transparency, consistency and confidence in reported results. This paper presents an approach based on the reporting methodology advocated by the codes and compares to the current reporting by discussing an example of volumetric method estimates of Menengai phase 1 geothermal field in Kenya
