| Abstract | There are many aspects of geothermal brine management that require reliable and stable pH control, including avoidance of scaling and corrosion. pH buffer solutions provide a potentially simpler route to achieving this compared to the use of strong acids and bases. The chemistry of pH buffer solutions is explained. Field experience and potential new uses of pH buffers are presented. |
