Abstract Present and future geothermal development and training demands for professionals in developing countries with significant geothermal resources have been assessed recently. the usage of geothermal energy for electricity gene ration is predicted target figures for at least seven countries. years this growth might lead to a twentyfold crease of the total plant capacity presently installed. The accelerated development of a l energy will bring about a continuously increasing demand for trained professional manpower which has to be significantly increased to cope with future requirements. No information is available about the size of this increase but on the bas is of foreseeable workloads it is estimated that an overall 3 fold increase of manpower might take place during the next ten years.
