Abstract The present paper discusses how the geothermal energy in Colombia could be versatile in several aspects to be more economically viable and, hence encourage the future geothermal projects to be further productive through different applications such as; reusing oil wells, CO2 like alternative working fluid, water desalination, sustainable mining and mining operation, recreative baths and hydrogen production. Although many of these methods are still being researched or in phases of experimental process, with an appropriate investment and relevant researches that could take following years, they could boost the development of these modern technologies and enhance the geothermal project making it more efficient for the development and operation in the country.
