The ever increasing for in Indonesia has led to investigate of the possibility ofusing new sources of energy. One such effort has been directed toward the developnent of geothermal energy resources. Since the steam at the Kamojang Area (West Java) in 1926, several attempts have been made to cover new Geothermal fields through out the Indonesian archipelago. Based on Studie made, Indonesia has a potential output of between 5500 in Java, 1100 in 1400 in Sulawesi, with other estimated potentials scattered in Nusatenggara, Moluccas and Up to the year 1990 the of Indonesia in - tends to develop the Geothermal Areas in Kamojang, Sa j at and Banten in West: Java, Dieng in Central Java, and Lahendong in Worth Sulawesi up to 1050 The objective of this paper is to describe the importance of various geothermal energy resources in Indonesia and an overall of development of this resources, the history of development past, present and future prospects with special emphasise on electric power developnent and the role they Indonesia up to the year 1990. |
