Abstract Many of the wells at Wairakei have now been producing for more than 20 years. Routine downhole measurements have indicated an increasing incidence of casing deformation and breakage. As yet there has been no effect on production rates due to casing performance alone, but potential blowout conditions have been anticipated in some cases. Wells nearer to the area of maximum vertical and hor izontal surface deformation have been more affected by casing problems. Detailed evaluation of three wells are discussed.
