| Abstract |
The importance of geothermal resources as an ternati ve source of energy is now generally admitted. Their practical use began in the first decade of our century on the European continent in Italy. Geothermal studies became especially intense during the last years. As known, the problems of 1ocati n g and geothermal resources have been discussed at many ntemational scientific meetings: at the United Nations Conferences on New Sources of Energy in Rome in 1961 and Nairobi in 1981, at the special Symposia of the United Nations in Pisa in 1970 and San Francisco in 1975, at the Congress on Geothermal Geothermal Energy and Volcanism of the Mediterranean Area in Athens, 1976, and, finally, at this very conference devoted to geothermal resources of the Pacific. |
