Abstract Kizildere Geothermal Field located in west Turkey is a high temperature geothermal field producing energy since 1984. Re-injection operations were started in 1995 to tackle operational problems such as Boron discharge to a nearby river and decline in reservoir pressure. This study reports the results of recent a long term (~600 days) slug tracer test conducted in the field. A new tracer model identification procedure based on artificial neural networks and least square analysis was used to identify possible mathematical tracer models that could represent the field sodium fluorescein tracer concentration time plots. It was observed that multi - fracture and fracture - matrix model successfully modeled the tracer returns. Further analysis of tracer data showed that most of the injected sodium fluorescein was not recovered. Moreover, sodium fluorescein was not detected in 3 wells located in north and west portions of the field. Current results indicated that if re-injection continues with the current configuration it will affect most of the field.
