Abstract The resistivity of an air-water mixture flowing in 1 inch and 2 inch pipes was compared to the liquid volume fraction (LVF) over a range of air and water flow rates from 2% to 74% LVF. Resistivity correlates with liquid fraction measurements in the annular and dispersed flow regimes (from 0.5% to 20% LVF) but not in the slug, stratified or wave flow regimes. An equation was developed to quantify the correlation and to allow liquid fraction to be calculated from resistivity measurements.
