Abstract Hg measurements in soils were carried out at Sikidang field in Central Java, Indonesia. About 250 sampling points were sited using grid method with a spacing of 300 metres. Soil samples were taken from one metre depth and were sent to the laboratory for Hg analysis. The threshold value was determined by Surface Trend Analysis and their values were mapped. It showed that the distribution of the anomalous Hg content in soils at one metre depth was in good agreements with the main pattern of the geologic structures of the field and with the distribution of the iso-temperature at depth measured from wells.
