Abstract A three-dimensional natural state model of the Tongonan geothermal fieldwas developed using the MULKOM simulator. The model considered all the significant features observed in the field: the upflow area in the Mahiao-Sambaloransectors, the main outflow area in the Malitbog and the surface discharges in the Bao Valley springs. The best model achieved reasonable matches to all the relevant observations. Using the best natural state model as the startingpoint for a production model, exploitation simulations were made by representing total field production and reinjection as single-wells respectively. A match to the three years of historical production in the Mahiao-Sambaloran Tongonan I (112.5 development was attained. Further simulations suggest that difficultiesmay arise in supportingthe installed plant capacity if a similardevelopment is started in the Southeast Sambatoran-Malitbog areas. This latter development, however, can achieve a 110 generation easily with spare capacity that can back-up the present Tongonan I exploitation.
