After a geothermal well is completed it is often discharged for a short period of time while various transient tests are performed. The complete record of production rate, discharge enthalpy and downhole pressure obtained over the period of a few days or weeks may be very useful in the of reservoir properties. Computer simulation can be used to obtain a "best fit" to the recorded data and the matching process gives good estimates of reservoir permeability and porosity. The technique is demonstrated with test problems and field data. |
