| Abstract | Located in the Taupo Volcanic Zone, production in the Rotokawa geothermal field began in 1997 with a 27 MWe flash-binary power station, expanded to 34 MWe in 2006. In 2010, the installed capacity increased to 172 MW with the commissioning of triple-flash condensing 138 MWe Nga Awa Purua. To date, there are thirteen production wells supplying steam to both power plants and five wells to inject brine and condensate. |
