| Abstract | An analytical approximation is developed for purely conductive heat transfer from impermeable blocks of rock to fluids sweeping past the rocks in fractures. The method was incorporated into a multi-phase fluid and heat flow simulator. Comparison with exact analytical solutions and with simulations using a multiple interacting continua approach shows very good accuracy, with no increase in computing time compared to porous medium simulations. |
