| Abstract | The AD-GPRS framework was modified to simulate geothermal reservoirs. AD-GPRS (automatic differentiation – general purpose reservoir simulator) is a computational framework that allows for a fully compositional and thermal reservoir simulation. AD-GPRS is based on an automatic differentiation library that allows for a flexible treatment of the variable formulation and the nonlinear terms within the formulation. This allows a geothermal application functionality to be integrated within this framework. To verify the results obtained from geothermal AD-GPRS, comparisons with other models were carried out. The geothermal AD-GPRS results were compared to analytical and semianalytical models to verify the solutions obtained from the simulator. For situations where an analytical solution was unavailable, TOUGH2, a commonly used reservoir simulator was used for comparison. |
