Abstract Hujiatai is a village with 1350 people living in 420 houses located in the Niutuozhen Geothermal Field. Space heating is a real problem should be resolved from November to next March every year. Initially, coal-fired boilers were used in separated houses for space heating due to distributed housing pattern, which resulted in extensive energy consuming, low efficiency and heavy air pollution. SINOPEC STAR PETRAOLEUM CO., LTD. started to drilled one geothermal production well and one reinjection well for Hujiatai concentrated space heating in 2010. At the same time, Building New Socialist Rural Areas Project implemented by the government has built townhouses for all the residents, founding basis for concentrated pace heating system. Furthermore, plate heat exchangers and floor heating system were used to improve space heating effect and save energy. Based on this measurement and equipment, a geothermal well producing 200m3 geothermal water per hour with the temperature of 64Ž may meet the heating demand of 35000 m2. According to the Space Heating Standard, 619 tons standard coal and 24415 may be saved during 120 days long space heating season, which also reduces 1477 tons CO2 emission and 102328 to deal with CO2 i100 equals to605, according to foreign exchange quotation at January 25, 2014, BANK OF CHINAj.
