Abstract Turkey has a place among the first seven countries in the world with the abundance of geothermal resources, but has only used about 7% of its potential. The exergy analysis is a powerful tool for the design, analysis and classification of thermal systems like geothermal resources. In this study, specific exergy index for examined field was calculated between 0.026 and 0.790 and sustainability index was found between 1,420 and 2,782. This study aims to point out resource use efficiency in Turkey and to promote to this subject was made putting emphasis on Turkey’s geothermal energy potential with an exergy example.
