| Abstract | The effects of industrial and geothermal discharges on the Tarawera River are being reviewed by the Regional Council. Improvements to the BOD loading on the river from the geothermal discharge have been achieved by the construction of a long cooling channel. A reinjection strategy considers the implications of reinjection on the geothermal resource and the river. Shallow reinjection trials have been operating in KAMl since June 1991 and in since April 1993. Monitoring results and tracer test results are presented. |
