Abstract The strategy of the development of power engineering in which renewable energy sources enlarge their contribution
forces the change of philosophy of designing house heating services (i.e. central heating systems and
hot water supply boilers). One of the basic requirements of the designs to be realized, apart high efficiency of
the applied devices and systems composed of them, is setting proper delivery/return temperatures in the
above-mentioned installations as well as the relationship between those temperatures and carried control process.
This paper concerns these problems. It is also an introduction to considering the possibilities of effective
utilization of geothermal intakes placed in underground mines in present-day building engineering by exploiting
low-temperature systems in heated objects..
