Abstract A numerical model is introduced to simulate the Edremit geothermal field which is located in the Northwest Anatolia-Turkey. The field is producing hot water at 40-60 oC temperature and it is mainly utilized in space heating. The geothermal water is produced from the production wells with depths ranging in between 216 and 496 meters. Two dimensional cross sectional model has been formulized to simulate the system in order to investigate its potential and presence of a probable relation between the hot and cold water aquifers in the field. Appropriate pressure and temperatures are set at the boundaries and the model is calibrated under steady state conditions by using the observed pressures and temperatures. Several forecasting production and injection scenarios of the field are discussed in the simulation runs. Interpretation of the reservoir response to these scenarios demonstrates that such a simulation study can be applied to investigate such geothermal systems and provide information related to its potential and sustainable production of the field.
