Abstract One of the new concept that are still little developed in Geothermal exploration is concept of Zircon Fission Track to determine the initial temperature and intrusion cooling age that will serve as the basic knowledgement for predicting the temperature reservoir in the future. This study try to analyze previous studies and make a hypothesis about how much the effectivity of Zircon Fission Track method developed in geothermal exploration. The method used in this study is comparative analysis of two studies that have been done before. These two studies were considered sufficiently represent the views of the Zircon Fission Track in present time. The first study conducted by Andrew Gleadow, he stated that Fission tracks accumulate in a uranium-bearing mineral grain either from spontaneous decay over geological time or during thermal neutron irradiation. Fission track lengths contain important information about the thermal history that a sample has experienced. Research methods were done in two ways: determining a Fission Track Age and fission track length measurement. In the measurement of Fission Track Age According to Gallagher et all, the preferred method is the external detector zeta (æ) calibration. This method relies on the etching requirements for optical revelation of fission tracks. Based from Comparative analysis of two studies conducted by Andrew Gleadow and Gallagher et al 1998, it can be drawn a hypothesis that the Zircon Fission Track method is effectively used for geothermal exploration in Indonesia, because the Zircon Fission Track method can indicate the initial intrusion temperature of the 238U track in mineral zircon, cooling age and geological time scale. Those data is very important in geothermal exploration. From this hypothesis can be made a suggestion that if there are data about the geothermal reservoir in Indonesia, it should be analyzed using Zircon Fission Track method because it would be more effective than other methods.
