| Abstract | Engineering analysis of the geothermal conversion cycle is often focused on power plant design and performance, with both expressed as capacity, in units of power. Frequently overlooked are the impacts that change in sub-surface resource characteristics and environmental parameters have on the subsequent plant output. This study will provide quantitative mapping of a life-cycle exchange of energy from source to grid and will focus on the perceived value of various conversion efficiencies and key indicators used systematically by non-technical stakeholders. Analysis of the perceived systematic effects is intended to advance our understanding of how life-cycle efficiencies and time are considered in the development of geothermal power. The focus on finance and policymaking in the life-cycle development of geothermal power is a mainstay of this study, and goes beyond the scope of traditional techno-economic study. |
