Abstract In the paper, the deep borehole Sosnowiec IG 1 testing for
geothermal reasons is proposed. The Devonian - Carboniferous
megacomplex of carbonate rocks at the depth interval
between 1690 - 3144 m was drilled and the temperature of
98oC in the deepest part was ascertained. This megacomplex
is thought to be perspective for geothermy because of temperature
and collector properties that would be also improved
during acidizing process. Thermal energy is used to be exploited
by two different methods: geothermal doublet and uniborehole
with geothermal Field exchanger. If the results are satisfied
enough, geothermal waters explorations could be conducted
in the whole Main Saddle zone and the south flanke of
it in front of the Forecarpathian overthrust.
