Abstract Enhanced geothermal systems (EGS) or hot dry rock is a type of geothermal resources with abundant storage and pollution-free energy, which can be exploited without geographic restriction. It is called the future of geothermal energy by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). This paper’s goal is to establish the temperature model to estimate the base EGS resource energy in North Jiangsu Basin of China. Preliminarily modeling results estimated in this paper shows great prospects for development. According to the result of this research, recoverable resource can be estimated in proportion to the base resource using Sanyal-Butler model in MIT report. The methods used in this paper provide the theory for further research in China.
