Abstract A high risk level of the fluid collection and disposal system of the Berlín geothermal field has been estimated. For the corrosion factor, the result is at medium risk level, which means that if the system is exposed under the same condition, it will last for the rest of the designed lifespan. For the scaling factor, the Silica Saturation Index (SSI) is used to classify severity of this factor. The operation history of the re-injection brine in Berlín at 180 °C presents a SSI of 1.15 which gives a high level of risk. Proper attention has been given to this factor when the residual water is re-injected at a lower temperature by silica inhibition. Thickness measurement is being applied to the internal pipe of the separator and the brine pipe of TR-4. The paper is limited to the risk analysis for corrosion, scaling and cracking for the pipeline system; hence the combination of these factors and the consequences of failure to give an overall plant risk assessment was not attempted.
