Abstract Substantial amount of hot water together with oil is being produced from Karakush oil field, in Mideastern Turkey. In this study, taking advantage of the heat content of water produced in oil field, greenhouse heating is planned for cultivating crops, such as peppers, tomato, cucumbers and lettuce. For this project, climatic conditions of Adiyaman region, where the Karakush oil field is situated, are first evaluated. Then, under this climatic conditions greenhouse indoor temperatures in relation to crop growing are determined, and greenhouses heated by hot waste water fluid are designed. Later, economical analysis of greenhouse exploitation is conducted for different cover materials and different crops, and finally the results are submitted.
